Founded in California in 1966, Vans was first started by Paul Van Doren. The first store was called The Van Doren Rubber Company. They first launched with three styles of shoes, one now known as "Authentic" and they were priced between US $2.49 and $4.99. 22 years later, Van Doren sold the company to McCown De Leeuw & Co for US$74.4 million[1]. Later in 2004, Vans merged with VF Corporation.
