Founded in 2006 by Music Producer and Hip Hop artist Dr Dre, and co-founded by Jimmy Lovine from Interscope Records. Beats fast became one of the fastest growing headphones manufacturers, with over 700 employees (2014).
In 2010, a majority stake in Beats was purchased by HTC for US$309 million, but sold back half it’s stake two years later. The next year in 2013, Beats by Dre was valued over $1Billion US, and was acquired by Apple the next year for $3 Billion (USD).
